When Christmas is around the corner, you have a real excuse to dress up your whole house and this includes your dining area and the dining room furniture as well, since much of the spirits of Christmas is embodied in the Christmas feast. In fact setting a festive dining table for Christmas is much of the fun of decorating for the festival.
Now the traditional colors of Christmas of course are red, green and gold, and these are anyway wonderful colors to create an impact with. These are the colors that will match with most colors of dining room furniture and walls as well. There are many ways in which you can bring alive your dining table for this special time of year.
You can begin with a bright colored custom tablecloth of either red or green colors which can be coordinated with the crockery you use as well as the table decorations, and the other accessories that you want to decorate your dining table with.
The centerpiece of the dining table is of course an all important element. You can decide on a wreath for your center piece and it can have bells, bows or any other Christmas ornament of your choice. Another good traditional idea for the centerpiece of the dining table is to create an arrangement of candles either in candelabra or in an arrangement that can be offset by some Christmassy greenery such as mistletoe and holly or even a pine garland. Thick pillar candles work best for this kind of setting; you can use varying heights of candles to create a lovely visual effect. You can also create a center piece using candles and then decorate using baubles or natural things like pine cones and even winter berries or fresh fruit! You can of course simply get a store bought center piece for your dining table, but that would take the fun out of creating your own.
Your dining chairs need not be left out of your festivities; you can decorate those as well so that you have dining chairs that are as festive as your dining table. Give the chairs just the little festive touch by attaching a few ornaments on each. Or you can take lengths of bright red or gold or green ribbon and fashion bows to affix to the back of each dining chair which is a simple way to give an instantly festive air to the whole room.
You can create festive Christmas bowls to decorate other pieces of dining room furniture, such as the mantle piece or the side board, and festoon those with pine garlands, candles, bells and ribbons. Then you can make the place settings on the dining table interesting by using color coordinated or even contrasting china and then offsetting it by using sprigs of holly or some cedar leaves. You can simply sprinkle glitter or even have a miniature Christmas tree for each person at the table. In fact you can be as creative as you like, and really enter into the spirit of the festival so that your Christmas is an unforgettable one!
