Make Yourself a Wonderful Work Station

With the recession taking a firm grasp of the country’s economy more and more people are sadly facing redundancy. The search for jobs, which are non existent in some areas of the country or within specific industries, is a perplexing and stressful time for many.

Trying to keep motivated at these desperate times can be extremely difficult for many. And whilst everyone who finds themselves unemployed has no desire to start their own business or work from home having an area in your home which is dedicated to motivating you to keep trolling through the job ads in local newspapers or online everyday has to be a proactive approach to take.

It is far too easy to slip into a routine of laying in far too long and not getting showered and dressed until midday, you need to have a place in your home which serves as either a temporary or permanent workplace!

Not every house has the space to dedicate an entire room to being transformed into an office and this is completely unnecessary for most people, unless they have been inspired to join the thousands of people who now prefer to work from home.

If you are not going to transform a whole room into an office allocate an area and put a table or desk against the wall, if you place it in front of a window this may give you better natural light but it can also be very distracting, it’s too easy to spend hours daydreaming whilst staring out of the window watching the world go by!

Get yourself a comfortable chair which provides good back support but ensure it is also ‘work like’, too comfortable and you may be tempted to drift off into a world of your own rather than concentrating on the job at hand which is finding a job!

Rather than sit looking at a plain wall, after all this is your home not a prison, you could hang a piece of inspirational wall art or have cascading fabric, similar to a bed canopy, which enables you to feel relaxed and takes away the plainness of the wall. Drape the fabric so that it falls behind and to the sides of your table. Opt for soft muted colours which give a relaxed look and which coordinate with the room’s colour scheme. Avoid bright and garish colours and fabric with too much detail as you may find this harsh on the eyes over a period of time.

Keep the work space clear and uncluttered as this will also have a positive affect and put you in the right frame of mind. Add some delicate touches such as flowers or a photo of your loved ones to remind yourself of some of the reasons you need to find work! Add large table lamps to provide you with sufficient light to read newspapers and which do not give too much glare on your pc screen.

Keep positive and good luck with finding a new an exciting beginnings in your life!
